A Muktinath yatra package usually combines Pashupatinath darshan in Kathmandu, a night or two in Pokhara, and the journey up the Kali Gandaki valley to Muktinath in Mustang. There are three ways to make the final leg, and we plan each around your group’s age, fitness and dates.
Planning notes for Indian pilgrims
- Altitude: Muktinath is about 3,700 m. We keep the time at altitude short and plan an easy pace for elderly yatris.
- Documents: Indian passport or Voter ID. We arrange the ACAP and TIMS entry permits for you.
- Best time: March to June and September to November. Winter is possible, but it is cold and flights are more often disrupted.
- Food: pure-vegetarian and Jain meals can be arranged throughout.
Frequently asked questions
How many days does a Muktinath yatra take?
It depends on how you travel. Helicopter darshan can be done in one day from Kathmandu or Pokhara. By flight via Jomsom most itineraries take 5–7 days from Kathmandu, and by road a little longer. Tell us your dates and we will suggest the right plan.
Is Muktinath suitable for senior citizens?
Yes, with the right plan. For elderly pilgrims we recommend the flight or helicopter option, a relaxed pace, and a short stay at altitude. Our team accompanies the group and can arrange ponies or support at the temple.
Can you arrange the yatra from the Indian border?
Yes. We can pick up groups at Sunauli–Belahiya, Raxaul–Birgunj or other border points, or at Kathmandu or Pokhara airport.
